Proclaiming to our Princesses

My daughter’s birthday is right around the corner.  How could she be nearing 1?  How could these 11 months have gone by so fast?  I just yesterday told someone she was 9 months old.  Then I realized I’ve been saying 9 months since July.  Definitely shows this isn’t the first child (remember when we always knew exactly how old our 1 child was, he always had super sanitized toys, and we always color coordinated the outfits?  And then along came baby number 2…)

So I’m doing the Pinterest Mom thing that I always said I’d never do.  Scouring the Internet for ideas for her little party.  I’m looking for something pearly, pastel, princess, elegant.  But not for the classic 1 year old party. I have a different idea.

We’ll invite women and girls to attend.  An opportunity for them to dress up like queens and princesses and hear about how they are beautiful and have great worth in Christ.  We’ll talk about their true Cinderella identity, how they are radiant and treasured crowns in the hands of God.

My daughter will just sit and watch.  She will get nothing out of this except hugs and cute pictures for her mommy to put in an album.  But I want this as a heritage for her.  Someday she will know.  She’ll flip through the album.  She’ll hear me tell her about it.  She’ll know her first birthday was surrounded with proclamation of her identity, of all of these women and girls’ identities, that of being a princess of their Heavenly Father.

As Christians we are called to proclaim to the next generation the marvelous works of God.  We are to take this super seriously; every single day reinforcing God’s works in the past, our confidence for the future with Him as our hope, His ways never changing, His Person, and the joy of His sealed covenant with His people.  We can do this in the mundane chores, creatively finding ways to speak of the greatness of our God and His promises.  We do this in times of great sorrow and loss by, as we weep, running to Him as the holder of our tears.  And we do this by being intentional in the times of celebration – whether it is doing the normal 1 year old birthday party or a crazy mom’s idea about a princess party.  Never stop showing and telling your littles of God.

The Beginnings of Our Blog!

As a new company started by two moms, Diadem Planners’ heart is for you to daily walk in the joy and confidence of your identity in Christ (particularly remembering you are a crown of beauty, a royal diadem in God’s hand – Isaiah 62:3) as you take time captive (instead of it owning you), so that you are free to invest your time in what is of most important to YOU.
